Frequently Asked Questions
Borehole drilling projects have variations and there is no one fixed price that fits all, cost/rates depends on depth, location and geological formation.
To determine depth and geological survey, borehole siting / hydrogeological survey has to be conducted. The survey costs a range of Kshs 35,000 to Kshs 80,000 depending on location.
With a defined depth and geological formation, we proceed to the actual drilling. Borehole drilling rates ranges between Kshs 5,500 per meter to Kshs 7,000 meter.
Both solar and electric pumps serve the same purpose but the energy source is where the difference comes. Electric pumps solely depend on the grid while solar pumps depend on solar energy for powering.
When it comes to cost, solar pump installation is more expensive than electric pumps. The upfront installation cost of a solar pump is higher since you have to invest in power storage and solar panels while the running cost is zero.
Electric pumps are cheaper to install but you will incur cost in operations (KPLC power rates applies monthly).

A properly developed (drilling and casing installation) borehole is suitable for a lifelong.
There is never a guarantee. It remains a risk to the client. However, with our hydrogeologists conducting borehole siting/water survey, the success rate for your borehole is 80% – 90%.
